Officers were called on Sept. 9, 2021 for a stolen vehicle in Darien on Long Neck Point Road. The car was found later that day in Waterbury.
As detectives were examining the vehicle for evidence, they got a DNA hit that was later confirmed as a match for Cranford, police said.
A judge issued an arrest warrant in September 2023 with a court bond of $75,000.
In court Wednesday, Cranford was arraigned on one count of first-degree larceny of a motor vehicle.
